The work of engaging colorful renderings on paper, draws one in but belies the horrific atrocities that are being depicted, a memorial to those lives lost and those forever altered, often depicting children at play with hands and feet missing, severed bodies, a pile of sculls…As the artist has stated “Imagine yourself as a child with your doll or soccer ball, walking out of your home and down the street and suddenly coming upon a person you know with fiery red eyes, screaming, running towards you, with a machete in hand and you realize that there is no one to protect you and no place to hide.”

While the exhibition revisits what happened in Rwanda, and the phrase “Never again” that is applied to such genocides, it makes the viewer reflect on related incidents occurring today and therefore “again.”
